Alcohol and marijuana seized at Fort Liard check stop Charges pending for four suspectsRoxanna Thompson Northern News Services Published Wednesday, March 20, 2013 Members of the Fort Liard RCMP detachment conducted the check stop on March 12. Between two vehicles, 30 litres of alcohol and a quarter pound of marijuana were discovered. Charges are pending against four people.
RCMP found two bottles of liquor in a cab of vehicle driven by a Fort Liard man at about 6:30 p.m.
More bottles of liquor were found hidden near the spare tire including nine 12-ounce, two 26-ounce, five 40-ounce and two 200-millilitre bottles.
Police are not releasing the identity of the suspect, until charges have been laid. The suspect, who is scheduled to appear in court on May 2, will be charged under the Fort Liard liquor restriction regulations.
Three males were arrested in a second incident on March 12 that occurred at 10:30 p.m. The investigation is still ongoing.
Two bottles of liquor were found in the passenger area of the second vehicle along with a quarter pound of marijuana and more bottles of alcohol, including 14 26-ounce, five 40-ounce, two 12-ounce, one 66-ounce and two 200-millilitre bottles, hidden in the spare tire well.
Fort Liard residents are encouraged to contact the Fort Liard RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers to provide any information they have regarding the illegal sale of liquor in the community.
