Several pounds of pot seized

IQALUIT
Police have charged four men in three separate drug busts and seized over seven pounds of marijuana with a total street value of roughly $100,000, according to a press release issued last week.

On Jan. 11, police arrested one man in possession of about five pounds of marijuana, alleged to be transporting the drug into the territory through Iqaluit.

A man has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. The following day, police arrested two men believed to be transporting marijuana into Iqaluit and confiscated two pounds of pot and eight bottles of liquor. One man is charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking; the second is charged with under the Nunavut Liquor Act.

On Jan. 17, RCMP executed a search warrant on a home in Iqaluit's 2500 block. One man was arrested and the search revealed marijuana that police allege was being prepared for sale. A man has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking. All those charged were released from jail on a promise to appear in court.
