IQALUIT
Air Greenland announced it will be increasing the number of direct flights between Nuuk and Iqaluit to 33 this season, from 24 in 2012.

Pia Christensen Bang, manager of corporate social responsibility and communications for Air Greenland, said the route will operate on Mondays and Fridays weekly, just as it did in 2012, but the season will be extended from June 10 to Sept. 30.

Bang said the increase was due to an unexpected number of leisure travellers using what was originally expected to be a route used for business travel. Most of the leisure travellers were from North America, but a portion were also from Greenland and elsewhere.

Last year was the first year for the route since First Air offered it in the 1990s.
