MELIADINE/RANKIN INLET
A small fire broke out at a sewagepumping station adjacent to a dormitory at the AgnicoEagle Mines (AEM) Meliadine advanced exploration camp on the land near Rankin Inlet on the evening of Nov. 25.

AEM's firedetection system alerted the company's emergencyresponse team immediately, and the small fire was quickly extinguished.

There was no damage to any of the camp's main facilities.

There were 20 people in the camp at the time of the incident, and no injuries were reported. The camp remains fully functional.

AEM is conducting an investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause of the fire, and will implement any preventive measures that may be required.
