Re-elected Inuvik councillor in court
Alleged incident results in three separate charges

INUVIK
Recently re-elected town councillor Kurt Wainman appeared in court Oct. 23 facing two counts of assault and one of forcible entry.

The incidents allegedly occurred on Sept. 16, 2012, and involved assault, uttering a death threat and the forcible entry into a private residence on Boot Lake Road.

Wainman, president and owner of Northwind Industries, could not be reached for comment by press deadline.

Conditions of his release, listed in court records, state he has to keep the peace, surrender all firearms, ammunition and explosives to the Inuvik RCMP Detachment and not communicate directly with two individuals.

Wainman was re-elected to town council during the Oct. 15 municipal elections. His next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 27 in Inuvik. The next appearance will be to enter a plea.
