IKALUKTUTIAK/CAMBRIDGE BAY Police seized large quantities of alcohol and fireworks from a luxury yacht moored outside of Cambridge Bay earlier this month.

On Sept. 7, the RCMP searched the yacht, named Fortress, and found 200 bottles of alcohol with an estimated street value of $40,000 in Cambridge Bay. As well, the police seized close to $15,000 worth of illegal fireworks.

The owner of the yacht, a 51-year-old Australian man, was charged with providing liquor to a minor under the age of 19 and being in possession of liquor other than when authorized. The accused is scheduled to appear in justice of the peace court on Nov. 15.
