KIVALLIQ Activities at Agnico-Eagle Mines Ltd.'s Meliadine gold project are ramping up.

The construction of a 24-km road to the site from Rankin Inlet is well underway, and on site a crew of geologists from around the world examine core samples while Nunami Helicopter Transport Corporation choppers ferry around drilling rigs to hundreds of drill sites in the area.

The camp was scheduled to shut down by August, but is now to stay open for an additional two months due to the amount of gold geologists are finding.
