The only team from outside the city claimed the trophy by defeating the YK Royals Sunday afternoon, 22-13.

The weekend saw very up and down results for the Inuvik team. While they mercied the Master Batters in their Friday night opener, 25-5, the Benchwarmers came up short in an extra-inning struggle against the Cunning Runts, 15-13, Saturday. Later that same day, they lost to the Royals, 14-9.

So going into Sunday did not look promising for the Inuvik women, who were at that point placed third out of four teams.

In a follow-up match against the Cunning Runts, however, the Benchwarmers got their bats together for a decisive win in six innings, 25-7.

"I think our pitcher "Chachi" (Chelsea Laroque) was pitching on fire, but the whole team was playing good," said team captain Justine "Juice" White through a chorus of screaming teammates. "I can't even tell you. Everybody was on their game – every single person was just A1. We played like crap a lot of our other games but this just did it."

The ladies were especially celebratory as they stated that this was the first time that a team from Inuvik played in the territorial championship in many years. White said in fact that some of the ladies on the team had mothers who were on the last team to play in the tournament.
