When Jennifer Fischlin came into work yesterday morning she found police fingerprinting her shop.

"We were robbed, there you go, once again," she said. "I'm feeling a little bit violated."

Fischlin's store, Vixen Hair Den, was one of three businesses broken into Monday evening in the W.H. Bromley building on Franklin Avenue, which also houses Rio Tinto's head office and Chez Patricia clothing store.

The thief entered through the back door of one of the businesses in the building and then smashed through the walls to get into two other businesses on either side between 9 p.m. and midnight, according to a statement issued by the RCMP.

Fischlin said the thief stole "enough money to put us in a little bit of a hole."

The RCMP stated money was stolen from one of the businesses.

The hair salon was closed Tuesday for clean up after the "considerable amount of damage" done to the walls and doors of the property.

This is the fifth time Vixen Hair Den has been broken into in the past 11 years.

"Again our downtown is being hit hard," said Fischlin. "It just makes us sort of go, well, what should we do to protect ourselves?"

Rio Tinto and Chez Patricia remained open yesterday, but representatives at each business declined to comment.

Police are continuing to investigate the crime and ask anyone with information to contact the Yellowknife RCMP or call Crime Stoppers.
