KIVALLIQ
The Government of Nunavut's Department of Education and Agnico-Eagle Mines Ltd. signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) last Wednesday to encourage Inuit youth to participate in skilled trades and mining-related careers.

The central focus of the memorandum is to increase the number of students in the Kivalliq region who stay in school and successfully enter mining-related careers and trades training programs after

completion.

"Agnico-Eagle is deeply committed to ensuring that we are able to make a significant and positive difference in the Kivalliq region," stated Yvon Sylvestre, senior vice-president of operations for Agnico Eagle Ltd. in a news release on the memorandum.

"And this agreement provides our future workers with the incentive and opportunity to pursue their dreams."
