School board meeting

Yellowknife Catholic Schools is holding a special board meeting today at 12 p.m. at its downtown board office.

The board plans to discuss superintendent Claudia Parker's contract, said Mary Vane, board chair.

There are three other items on the agenda, including the removal of assistant superintendent Johnnie Bowden's termination letter. As the board has previously stated, it is not permitted to discuss personnel issues. However, in this case Bowden has given permission to the board to speak, said Vane. There will be no public discussion at this meeting regarding the reason or reasons behind the previous motion to terminate Bowden's contract and not to renew Parker's, she added.
