QAMANITTUAQ/BAKER LAKE
Areva Resources Canada Inc. is reviewing its draft environmental impact statement for its Kiggavik uranium project, after the Nunavut Impact Review Board found deficiencies in the 10,000 page document.

The board received the impact statement for the Baker Lake-area project on Jan. 3, and last week,, alerted the Saskatoon-based company that the document did not conform to all the board's guidelines.

"The submission contains deficiencies which must be addressed in order to facilitate an efficient technical review of the document by all parties," a Jan. 18 letter signed by board executive director Ryan Barry said, adding the technical review of the project will not begin until the document met all the guidelines.
