IQALUIT
Iqaluit RCMP officers were confronted by a man pointing a firearm at them as they responded to complaints of gunshots fired on Nov. 23 in the 100 block area of the territorial capital, according to a police report.

Shots were fired and the man fled the scene before being located a short time later near House 238, bleeding from the chest area. The man was transported to Qikiqtani General hospital where he is being treated for his injuries. Police stated the man is in stable but critical condition.

Another man living in the 100 block area was injured as a result of this incident, said police. He is currently at the Qikiqtani General Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Cpl. Denis Lambe said the nature of both men's injuries are unclear at this point. He added it is also unclear if there's any connection between the incidents.

"We don't know if it's related but it happened in and around the same time as this incident," he said.
