IQALUIT
A police investigation into alleged inappropriate use of Qulliq Energy materials by two employees with the power corporation is still ongoing.

Police started looking into allegations of theft, fraud and inappropriate use of resources against the two Qulliq Energy Corporation employees in July. At that time, the RCMP stated, "it was alleged that both employees used telephone poles from Qulliq Energy ... to build a retaining wall on their personal property in Iqaluit."

More witnesses are still being interviewed, RCMP Const. Stephan Kilabuk stated via e-mail on Nov. 17.

"The investigation is expected to come to a conclusion some time within the next two weeks," he stated. "It is unknown at this time whether criminal charges will apply."

The accusations stem from questions South Baffin MLA Fred Schell asked Lorne Kusugak, the minister responsible for Qulliq Energy, in the legislature this past spring.
