Either as a participant in some of the events or more recently helping out with the organizers, Tologanak says it's something to look forward to every year. His dedication to the annual spring festival is why he was honoured this year with the lifetime achievement award. Tologanak also served one term as an MLA, from 1979 to 1983. "I can't remember when it started exactly but it was quite a while ago," said Tologanak. He couldn't make it to the final night of the Frolics but he started getting calls from family as soon as the award was announced. "I was not aware of it and I don't walk so well, I have a hard time walking so I couldn't get there." said Tologanak. Each year, the festival gets bigger and bigger as more events are added. There's a committee that works with the hamlet to organize everything and Tologanak said he helps out where he can. He used to take part in some of the events years ago such as running on the ice and competing in snowmobile races. But now, the highlights of the festival involve watching people get together and have some fun. "It's for all ages and there's something for everyone," said Tologanak. This year, there was an added bonus with caribou being close to the community. "The caribou's close by, so people kind of like to do stuff like that and bring it back," he said. Likening the event to a big family reunion, Tologanak said it can be tiring at times, with the weather being so nice and so many different events happening, but it's all worth it in the end. "My favourite part is everybody participating and smiles on the faces of the children, the adults and the elders," said Tologanak. Tologanak saw the award himself the day after the closing ceremonies.
