Campbell tops for Fort Simpson council

FORT SIMPSON
Larry Campbell placed first in the race for village council seats in Fort Simpson on Monday.
He was selected on 144 ballots. Also serving on council will be longtime municipal politicians Ron McCagg, Bob Hanna and Tom Wilson. They will be joined by Leah Keats, Stella Nadia, Renalyn Pascua-Matte and Marie Lafferty.
Campbell told Deh Cho Drum that the top priorities for the village are increasing usage of facilities like the recreation centre and to ensure residents living in the Wild Rose Acres subdivision have access to the same services as the people on the island including water, sewage, roads, playgrounds and equal base taxes.
Mayor Sean Whelly was acclaimed.
