Notices issued at dock
Vehicles, boats, bicycles and canoes parked at the government dock in Old Town have been tagged with a notice by the city.
The notice gives owners of the tagged property until 3 p.m. Sept. 24 to remove the items or "the city will take further enforcement action, including, but not limited to, the removal of the unauthorized items."

No leads on assault
The victim of an attack by a person wearing a mask on a Yellowknife street Saturday has not recovered enough to give a statement to police.
"He hasn't been in a position to talk to us just yet," said RCMP Staff Sgt. Brad Kaeding. "Of course, we are still following up and looking for witnesses to try to determine what ... happened between the last time he was seen and when he was found."
The 48-year-old man was found at 2:45 a.m. on Gitzel Street near Albatross Court and was medevaced to Edmonton with a broken leg and "significant" injuries to his head.

Bardak seeking re-election
City councillor Lydia Bardak has decided to seek re-election.
First elected in 2006, Bardak is the executive director of the NWT branch of the John Howard Society.
Her platform consists of helping the homeless find supportive or assisted living, making downtown more affordable for business, creating a more vibrant downtown core, and maintaining infrastructure.

Fault caused outage
A city-wide power outage Monday afternoon was caused by a fault in the Bluefish Line, said Bob Kelly, communications manager for the Northwest Territories Power Corporation. The outage lasted from 3:20 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. until power was restored with a back-up diesel generator. Meanwhile, another blackout left parts of the city without power for about an hour last night.

Vet visit
Rankin Inlet
Animal health professionals with the Tuxedo Animal Hospital in Winnipeg will be making their annual visit to Rankin Inlet this coming week.
The team is scheduled to provide animal health care in Rankin from Sept. 1922.
Appointments are necessary to see the team, and pet owners can contact Page Burt at the Nanuq Lodge to make sure their beloved furry friend has its spot booked.
Gas woes
Repulse Bay
The community of Repulse Bay was struggling with problems at the gas pumps this past week.
Repulse had to have a number of planes from Rankin Inlet deliver gas to the hamlet this past week to ensure the community had enough to last until its major shipment is delivered by fuel tanker this week.
The tanker's arrival was delayed due to ice.
Repulse will be receiving an extra 100,000 litres this year, pushing the community's consumption up to 600,000 litres.
Power glider
Arviat
Kelli Owlijoot has become one of the first people in Nunavut to get involved with powered paragliding.
Owlijoot learned how to fly the powered paraglider in St. Catharines, Ont., and can be seen swooping around Arviat as long as the winds don't rise above 15 km/h.
Art competition
Kivalliq/Nunavut
Kivalliq artists are reminded NorthwesTel has launched its annual phone directory cover competition.
The competition runs until Oct. 9.
Those who win the competition have their work featured on the directory cover for the following year, are awarded $2,000 and have their artwork added to NorthwesTel's corporate art collection.

Rankin Inlet
A group of students at Simon Alaittuq School (SAS) in Rankin Inlet have started their very own school newspaper.
The aspiring journalists are learning every facet of putting a newspaper together, while enjoying their new enterprise at the same time.
