Last year, Yellowknife hotels registered an annual average occupancy of 69 per cent, up 10 per cent from the previous year. The average room rate was $150, making the revenue per available room $103.50. Meanwhile, annual average occupancy in Whitehorse hotels has stagnated at 63 per cent since 2009 and the average room rate in 2011 was $112. In 2011, revenue per available room was $70.56, about $33 below that of Yellowknife.
