The number of delegates approached 200 this year, representing about 80 organizations including Northern airlines, mining and exploration companies, government, regulatory authorities and Inuit corporations.

"It was very busy this year," said exhibitor Colin Matychuk, managing director of Nunavut Insurance Brokers. Matychuk has attended the event for almost 10 years and it was "the biggest one yet," he said.

Cambridge Bay economic development officer Jim McEachern said as the show has reached capacity in recent years, the quality of delegates has increased with more high-profile attendants including presidents and top executives of the North's major operators at the 13th annual event.

The show began last Monday evening with a meet and greet at the Luke Novoligak Community Hall.

An estimated 500 people attended the exhibitor displays each day at the Kiilinik High School gymnasium.

The theme of this year's trade show was Partners in Progress.

Kitikmeot Inuit Association president Charlie Evalik was presented with the Willie Laserich Memorial Corporate Citizen Award at the banquet, auction and awards evening on Tuesday night.

Many delegates expressed appreciation for the networking opportunities at the event, including Kitikmeot Corporation chairperson Wilf Wilcox.

"It's a good trade show and I think that next year we'll have as good a trade show or better," he said.

The annual event promotes economic development in the Kitikmeot region.
