BHP announced last week that it is considering the sale of its interest in Chidliak and the Ekati Diamond Mine, located about 310 km northeast of Yellowknife, as part of a review of all its diamond holdings. Peregrine met with a senior executive of BHP, a Nov. 30 news release stated, who assured the exploration company that BHP continues to be committed to next year's Chidliak exploration program, and its share of up to $1.9 million for the mobilization of materials and equipment for the bulk sample. A 2012 program and budget for the project, located about 120 km from Iqaluit on Baffin Island, is expected to be approved before the end of the year.
