RCMP and paramedics were called to the corner of 50 Street and Franklin Avenue about 9 p.m. where a man was rushed to Stanton Territorial Hospital by ambulance and medevaced to hospital in Edmonton. His name has not been released.

RCMP interviewed witnesses at the scene where a large amount of blood could be seen on the sidewalk.

Officers eventually made their way to an area near the Somba K'e Civic Plaza. It appeared as though they had tracked a suspect to that area.

According to a news release from the Mounties, they used their police dog to help locate and arrest the suspect. Police have not said where he was apprehended.

Donovan Collins, 26, was held for a court appearance on Friday. He is also charged with breaching his probation.

Police have not updated the condition of the victim. They have also not identified the weapon nor said if it was recovered.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the stabbing or who may have information about it to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
