Firefighters battle a huge triplex fire on Ward Crescent just across the street from Mark's Work Wearhouse on Monday morning. No one was hurt but a three-year-old dog was missing. The blaze gutted the three units in the building and badly damaged a unit next door. No cause had been determined as of mid-afternoon on Monday. - John McFadden/NNSL photo

More than 100 people gathered along Ward Crescent to watch fire crews fight a blaze at a duplex today just before noon.

The crowd, some of them who appeared distraught, watched an aerial unit and at least three fire trucks try to contain the blaze, which eventually spread to a second dwelling roughly five metres away.

In total, three units were affected by the blaze as of noon - one completely destroyed, the other two badly damaged. The homes are located just behind Mark's Work Warehouse.

Municipal enforcement and RCMP were also on hand. Flames could still be seen as of noon.
