Firefighters and an ambulance were called to the home just after 1 p.m., according to a news release from the city.

"On arrival the duty officer was informed that it was a dryer fire and that full evacuation of the home had taken place," the release stated.

"The attack crew of two firefighters entered the structure, proceeded to the basement and encountered a fire that was just starting to build in size. A small amount of water was applied to the fire which converted to steam and extinguished the blaze."

It is believed that there was only one person home when the fire began.

Damage was limited to the dryer with light smoke damage throughout the home, the city stated. There were no injuries.
