For the RRR girl's volleyball team last weekend, it was the semifinals match that stole the show, even though they won the tournament.

"For the past four years, we've tried our hardest to beat Servaces, and we actually kicked them out in the semifinals to make it to the finals and win for the first time in four years," said Erica Lugt from Tuktoyaktuk.
Her regional team was made up of herself (Tuktoyaktuk), Tawny Amos (Inuvik), Joyce Blake (Fort McPherson), Miranda Pingo (Inuvik), Lisa Alikamik (Inuvik) and Jasmine Plummer (Norman Wells). They beat Team Kayleigh in the finals.
"Us beating (Servaces) because we have been head-to-head all these years was the victory for us," said Lugt. "It was always us and them in the finals."
For Blake, the key to victory was making serves count, getting all three hits in and just getting the ball over the net.
"It started off kind of slow," said Blake about the tournament overall. "We don't normally play together, but as the games went on we grew together as a team."
Team spirit helped a lot, too.
"This weekend we blended well together and we went out there and just had a great time, laughed, smiled," said Lugt.
In the men's division, the JLT Eagles emerged victorious over Barry's team.
The Eagles were made up of Jeffrey Amos, Ben Contenti, Jonathan Amos, Edwin Amos, David Wright, Cody Greenland and Jordan Amos.
Good teamwork, hustling and strong passing pushed the Eagles to victory, said Jeffrey Amos.
"The last match, we were expecting it to be a little bit harder," he said after winning the finals 2-0.
"The first set was close and then we started to pick up, started to work together, getting our hits."
He congratulated Greenland, the youngest player on the team, for improving the most as the games progressed.
Amos thanked everyone who came out for the weekend, which saw eight women's teams and five men's.
"It was really fun," he said.
