Crack pipe confiscated in court

Sheriffs seized an apparent crack pipe in territorial court Thursday after it appeared to fall out of a person's pocket following their court appearance.

"There was something that was noticed on a chair in the room that appeared to be a crack pipe," said Jeff Round, director of court services. "We've turned it over to the RCMP."

RCMP spokesperson Marie York-Condon said no suspect has been identified and no charges have been laid. Round said while sheriff's officers find items in court from time to time, he couldn't recall any similar incidents involving drug paraphernalia.

The city has applications and more information on its website. It plans to hold an information session Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. at the fire hall.
