Phoebe Ann Franki said her five-year old son, 12-year old daughter, and 16-year old son were trick-or-treating in the Bigelow Crescent and Finlayson Drive area Monday.

When they came home they pooled their treats.

Mini-boxes of Smarties chocolates were set aside and Franki said she was opening them Wednesday when she noticed one was a different size.

"I saw a yellow pill come out. I saw it was a different size. I turned it over and it said Tylenol," she said in an interview Thursday.

"I got scared, I got paranoid," she said about finding what appears to be a pill.

She took a photo, posted it to Facebook to warn people and a friend called police.

"We just want to warn people so it doesn't happen to other kids," she said. "I'm just worried about other people."

She dropped the candy off at the RCMP detachment Thursday.

According to a news release from RCMP, the force was called on Wednesday about an allegation of "tainted Halloween candy."

The investigation is in its early stages, the news release stated. RCMP civilian member Marie York-Condon stated in an e-mail police have received only one report of allegedly tainted candy. Police haven't confirmed officers are specifically investigating Franki's report.

The news release asked the public to "ensure any candy in their possession is thoroughly examined." Police asked anyone with information to contact Yellowknife RCMP at 669-1111.

Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477, online at nwtnutips.com or via texting NWTNUTIPS plus your message to 274637.
