Sept. 10 is Suicide Prevention Day around the world and in Nunavut the focus is on celebrating life.

Alianait, organizer of the popular Nunavut summer music festival, is continuing its social justice work by teaming up with Isaksimagit Inuusirmi Katujjiqaatigiit (Embrace Life Council).

The Quality of Life division of the territorial government's Department of Health is also a partner.

In Iqaluit, the annual community walk will begin at the Igluvut Building at 6 p.m. and culminate at the Elders Qammak and Inuksuk High School.

Following the walk, Twin Flames will play a concert at 7:30 p.m. at the high school.

The duo, states a news release, plays both Inuktitut and English folk-pop-rock with an acoustic roots flavour and an Americana feel.

The Embrace Life Council will also be hosting its grieving group for those who need a more private setting that day.

Twin Flames will continue their tour in two Baffin and three Kivalliq communities, where they will "spread the gospel of self-love in each community as they work with youth inside community schools and discuss social issues, and drug and alcohol abuse alternatives."
