SOMBA K'E/YELLOWKNIFE
Police report there was a pizza caper Friday evening downtown, resulting in one man being charged and a woman being sought.

RCMP stated in a news release they were called Friday evening around 11 p.m. to the area of Somba K'e Park near city hall where a taxi driver was attempting to deliver pizza at the park.

When the driver arrived, a man and woman allegedly attempted to take the pizza without payment, according to police.

The situation turned saucy. Police state there was "a slight altercation" resulting in the driver receiving what the news release described as minor injuries to his face.

The suspects dashed off with the pizza and the driver called police.

Police were then told of a man at a "pizza house" downtown - the location wasn't disclosed by police - where he allegedly took more pizza and attempted to flee.

He was captured by police.

Kelly Canadian, 24, was charged with robbery and theft.

"Our officers are pleased that this incident was quickly reported and brought to conclusion swiftly," RCMP civilian member Marie York-Condon stated in a news release Monday.

The second suspect, described as a woman about 25 years old, was last seen Friday wearing a long sleeved grey sweater.

Police stated the investigation is ongoing.
