A news release from the RCMP stated the investigation began May 1.

Warrants were issued under the Liquor Act and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and were carried out at a residence on Raven Street May 5.

"The search resulted in police seizing a quantity of illegal drugs and alcohol destined for resale," stated Const. Kevin Devoe.

Police seized 11 1.5-litre bottles of vodka, 24 375-millilitre bottles of vodka, more than 100 grams of what is suspected to be marijuana, more than 200 grams of what is suspected to be salvia, as well as crack cocaine from the residence.

Talal Khatib, 63, is facing charges of possession of marijuana, crack cocaine, and salvia and trafficking of marijuana. He is also charged with selling liquor without a licence under the NWT Liquor Act, as well as keeping liquor for sale.

Khatib is scheduled to appear in territorial court in Inuvik Aug. 3.
