Tibbitt to Contwoyto Winter Road opens

The Tibbitt to Contwoyto Winter Road to the diamond mines officially opened to commercial traffic yesterday. The opening was delayed by a little more than a week due to mild temperatures and heavy snow, according to Ron Near, director of winter road operations. Motorists are asked not to stop or park on the road and to use caution. Near said more than 8,000 loads and 300,000 metric tonnes of freight is expected to be delivered by the end of March.

Range Lake North School and N.J MacPherson School parents are scheduled to meet Tuesday at Range Lake North School, he said. J.H. Sissons School's night is scheduled next Wednesday and Mildred Hall School is set for Feb. 25. Meetings begin at 7 p.m. except for the Mildred Hall School meeting, which begins at 6:30 p.m. to leave time for dinner.
