"We're so happy," said Marie Coderre, executive and artistic director of the Northern Arts and Cultural Centre, the organization bringing Davis to five communities. "He's one of the best blues musicians, he's internationally renowned. After us, he's headed to Italy."

Davis will be performing at the Igloo Church in Inuvik Oct. 12, but that won't be his only stop in the community. He will also be headed to East Three School for a workshop with students there as part of NACC's outreach program.

"It's a demanding schedule," said Coderre. "It's a lot of travel in not a lot of time, and we're going into the schools too, not just the regular performances."

But all the effort has been paying off. Coderre said through vigorous marketing campaigns and word of mouth, attendance has been growing steadily every year. While Guy Davis may be more well-known around the world than some of the other performers NACC brings to communities across the territory, Coderre said it's more about the talent than getting the big names.

"We always look for diversity," she said. "It's not always about the big names; first we look for talent and diversity."

Coderre said she is very much looking forward to seeing the audience's reaction to Davis' performance at the Igloo Church.

"It's almost sold out in Yellowknife," she said. "A lot of people are looking forward to it and I hope it's as popular in the rest of the territory."
