A man reported as missing from the Stanton Territorial Hospital since Sunday evening was found in a wooded area along the McMahon Frame Lake Trail yesterday afternoon, RCMP stated in news release.

The 25-year-old had last been seen Sunday just before 8 p.m. leaving the hospital for a walk.

He was a patient at the hospital on an escorted leave pass when he fled his escort.

Police had earlier warned the public not to approach him if spotted and stated in a Monday news release that he is "required to return for treatment."

It was unclear what treatment police were referring to.

In yesterday's news release, RCMP Const. Elenore Sturko said police officers located the man around 3 p.m. Tuesday.

She stated that several police units performed a grid search of an area along the trail which successfully located the man.

"(He) has been returned to the hospital," Sturko stated.

"He was tired and hungry when located, but otherwise was uninjured.

"Numerous calls were received from concerned citizens who made efforts to assist police. Yellowknife RCMP thanks the public and the media for their assistance."
