Former RCMP officer charged with sexual assault

Three charges of sexual assault have been laid by the V Division Major Crime Unit against former RCMP member Lauren McKiel, who is 78 years old, alleging the crimes took place in Cape Dorset.
The charges follow a complaint of historic sexual assaults, including rape, indecent assault and sexual intercourse with a person under 14 years of age.
"The charges stem from an alleged series of incidents on the same victim, which took place in the late 1960s in Cape Dorset, Nunavut," stated the RCMP's news release.
McKiel is scheduled to appear at the Nunavut Court of Justice in Iqaluit in September to answer to the charges.
