No one was injured during an apparent home invasion on 47 Street early Sunday morning when a person demanded drugs and money from a resident, according to RCMP.

In a news release, RCMP spokeswoman Const. Elenore Sturko stated that at about 2:10 a.m. on July 26 a resident awoke to noise from inside their home.

Looking around, the person found a male they did not know in the kitchen.

He produced a weapon, police aren't saying what type, and then asked for drugs and money.

The resident said they had neither and the person left, according to police. Police were called at about 9 a.m. and a police dog was used to help search for a suspect. RCMP stated they haven't identified a suspect yet and are not releasing a description.

"Our members are working expeditiously on getting as much information as possible and hopefully to solve this case," she said.

Sturko said there haven't been any similar incidents reported to police recently.

"It would be something that the public would be alarmed by.

"It's not a usual circumstance so members are working on this investigation to hopefully find out who is responsible."
