One man is dead, another person is in custody after what police are describing as a sudden death in Ndilo late Monday night.

Police report the man was found critically injured at a Ndilo residence and was later pronounced dead at Stanton Territorial Hospital. RCMP had not confirmed the address where the man was found but police tape surrounded a home yesterday at 122 Sikyea Tili and an RCMP vehicle with an officer inside it was stationed out front.

According to an RCMP news release, police officers attended the scene just after 11 p.m. and observed an injured male receiving emergency treatment from paramedics. A suspect was located at the residence and arrested without incident. The victim and the suspect are known to each other, police stated.

A neighbour, who asked not to be identified, said he understood there had been a stabbing in a domestic dispute. RCMP could not confirm that as of press time. They also would not say if the person who was taken into custody had been formally charged, nor did they say what charges, if any, were pending.

No names have been released as police continue to investigate along with the office of the Chief Coroner of the NWT.
