Net gain at volleyball tournament
Rankin Inlet
Rankin Inlet's Kavik men's team got a measure of revenge on Repulse Bay (Naujaat) by defeating Naujaat in the final to claim the men's crown in the 15th annual Laura Gauthier Memorial (LGM) volleyball tournament in Rankin this past month.
Naujaat, a Kivalliq powerhouse on the volleyball court, had defeated Kavik in the final a year earlier to claim the 2014 LGM men's title; their second in a row.
On the women's side of the ledger, a scrappy young team from Gjoa Haven was too much to handle for the Rankin Fusion, as Gjoa Haven ousted the defending champs to claim the female LGM title.
For more on Kavik claiming its first title at the 15th annual LGM, please see the May 13 edition of Kivalliq News.
