He's already started putting together his own team to compete in upcoming handgames tournaments. Weyallon said he already has eight of the nine kids he needs to form a team.

"I made my own team," he said. "I need one more person to be on my team."

Weyallon's interests aren't limited to handgames, he's also an avid soccer player who loves math and science, as well as playing road hockey with his friends.

He also enjoys school. Physical science units in science class are some of his favourite subjects this year, he said.

"We learn about pulleys and gears," he said.

Helping others is also important to Weyallon. He often assists his classmates if they struggle with certain topics.

"I help kids if I'm done my work," he said. "I just tell them what to do."

Weyallon is also helpful at home. Even though he's the youngest member of his family, he has chores he needs to do every day.

"I help my mom," he said. "I take out the garbage and I make my lunch."

When he's not lending a hand at home or at school, Weyallon said he spends time practicing what he hopes will be his career one day - soccer.

"It feels fun for me," he said. "I like passing the ball and shooting the ball and scoring and stuff."

He said he would love to play for the Canadian men's national team when he grows up.

No matter what Weyallon chooses to do in the future, his eagerness to learn and take part in many activities will make sure he excels, Chief Jimmy Bruno School principal Patti Turner said.

"He's just involved in anything," she said. "If there is any type of activity going on, he's involved."

In addition to his enthusiasm, Turner said Weyallon is also kind.

"He's also a really nice young man," she said.

She said Weyallon is excelling not just in the classroom, but in the school community as well.

"I picked him because really, he is a role-model student," she said.
