A man is charged with assault with a weapon after a social worker was attacked at the Centre Square Mall.

RCMP spokesperson Const. Elenore Sturko said the incident took place last Friday at about 1 p.m. at the lower level of the mall.

The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries at Stanton hospital, Sturko said.

She would not say what the weapon was or whether it had been recovered. Tylor Nataway, 24, was held for a court appearance on Monday.

Discussion ceased on Robertson Headframe

Discussions on saving the Robertson Headframe have ended.

Councillors voted to stop considering taking ownership of the Robertson Headframe because they've been advised by the Department of Municipal and Community Affairs they aren't in a position to abstain from the legal liability associated with the site.

Coun. Cory Vanthuyne said saving the headframe is now in the hands of the territorial government.

Coun. Bob Brooks was the only councillor who said he didn't support the motion.

Kivalliq art in England

Baker Lake/London, England

A beautiful illustration of Kivalliq tradition is on display in Trafalgar Square's Canada House in London, England.

The embroidered wallhanging depicting an Inuit tale from Nunavut is the work of internationally known Nunavut artist Irene Avaalaaqiaq Tiktaalaaq of Baker Lake.

It is one of several key pieces from Canada's High Arctic on display as part of a largescale revitalization of the Canadian High Commission, Canada's diplomatic mission to the United Kingdom.

Created in 2007 with duffel, felt, embroidery and floss, the wallhanging depicts a fish creature turning into a birdlike human so it can escape from the faces that encircle it.

"It's scared of the faces and trying to fly away," explained Avaalaaqiaq in a written news release on the wallhanging.

"I am happy and excited to have my work shown in another part of the world."

Sun transit time

The exact timing depends on a community's geographic location and the position of the satellite providing service.
