Yellowknife firefighters fought a blaze that engulfed a house at School Draw Avenue and 44 Street Wednesday afternoon, with black smoke billowing high into the sky.

A crowd gathered in the parking lot of the Ciara Manor across the road, and along 44 Street. Cars were being redirected away from the scene.

There was a full call-out for the fire department for the blaze, with two large firetrucks on scene, joined by ambulances, bylaw vehicles and RCMP.

It is unknown at this time if anyone was hurt or what the cause of the fire may be.
