Christmas lights competition
The city is looking for the best lit homes this holiday season for their annual Christmas lights competition.
Judging is set to begin on Dec. 9. There are six different categories, including residential home, mobile home, neighbourhood, commercial exterior, commercial interior and alternative lighting. Residents can vote for their favourite entries when they're posted to the city's Facebook page, from Dec. 13 to 16.
Winners will receive a prize donated by Northland Utilities.

Christmas Lights Across Canada
Yellowknife will be joining the rest of the nation in welcoming the holiday season as it participates in the annual Christmas Lights Across Canada festivities tomorrow.
Mayor Mark Heyck will turn on city hall's Christmas lights at 5 p.m., the same time as 12 territorial and provincial capitals across the country.
The event will kick of with caroling led by the Mildred Hall School choir 4:45 p.m.

St. Joseph School concerts
The preschool and kindergarten classes at St. Joseph School will be hosting their Christmas concerts today at 1:30 p.m., and there is no evening performance.
Parents and family should have their ticket requests already for the event.
A Christmas play by students in Grades 1 to 5 will be held on Dec. 17, with performances at 1:30 and 6 p.m.
The theme of the play for the older students will be the Great Christmas Giveaway. Ticket requests for the Dec. 17 concert must be in by Dec. 13.

Booze, dope seized on Highway 3
Several containers of prohibited alcohol and some marijuana was seized over the weekend on Highway 3, at the Behchoko Access Road.
RCMP say they conducted highway safety enforcement on Nov. 30, and seized the drugs and alcohol after investigating several motorists.
Police said they've laid trafficking and possession charges, as well as several charges under the Liquor Act and Behchoko Liquor Prohibition Act.
