Crowe MacKay will now have access to the network's 167 independent accounting and advisory services around the world, said Yellowknife managing Partner John Laratta.

The group of companies now represents the 10th largest accounting network in the world, he said. Participation in the network does not represent a merger or an acquisition, he added.

The company remains independent, with a larger network to access for Northern clients, especially in the fields of international taxation, fraud and internal controls.

MacKay -- which has seven Western and Northern Canada, located in Calgary, Edmonton, Kelowna, B.C., Surrey, B.C.,Vancouver, Whitehorse, and Yellowknife – has always had a deep pool of resources and expertise to draw from.

"That's been significantly expanded," Laratta said, adding Bottom Line Magazine ranked MacKay LLP the 12th largest professional accounting firm in Canada in 2012.

MacKay LLP has six partners in Yellowknife and 35 staff, four of whom passed their Uniform Final Evaluation exams earlier this year, which represents the first step toward becoming a chartered accountant.

Including the six partners, Crowe MacKay has a dozen professional accountants on staff. The company provides accounting, auditing, income tax planning, compliance, and consulting services to a range of sectors, and provides specialized management consulting services, forensic auditing, financial management, financial restructuring, and insolvency services

Throughout Canada, MacKay LLP has 44 partners and principals, and employs approximately 220 professional and support staff.
