Firefighters responded to reports of a house fire at 129 Stinson Road in Northland Trailer Park at approximately 4:55 p.m. on Wednesday.

A total of 23 firefighters responded to the call, in addition to two municipal enforcement units who provided assistance for traffic control.

According to a press release from the city, fire crews were able to confine the fire with "a single attack line of water/foam mixture," and the fire was completely extinguished within one hour.

Neighbour Dean Stoesz was watching TV next door at the time of the incident. He said he did not notice there was a problem until a firetruck pulled up outside his house.

"First thing I saw, the truck rolled up, then they punched in the door and a lot of smoke came out," said Stoesz.

Stoesz said he believed there was no one in the house at the time.

The owner of the house, who did not want to be named, arrived at the scene after the fire broke out. He said he normally rents the property out, but said there is currently nobody living at the house.

According to the news release, an investigation of the scene revealed that the fire appeared to be suspicious in nature.

As a result, the scene was turned over to the RCMP who are now investigating the incident.
