As of Sept. 6, RCMP and search and rescue workers in Behchoko were still looking for a 57-year-old man who went missing outside the community.

Frank Alfred Black had not been seen since Aug. 29, according to a press release. Black is knowledgeable about the land and has survival skills, the release also said.

The release stated Black left a cabin on Russell Lake by himself on Aug. 29. RCMP were notified that he was missing on Aug. 31 after community members performed a search but weren't able to locate him.

RCMP searched the area where Black was last seen using the detachment's jet boat and performed an aerial search on Sept. 1, but both searches failed to find him.

RCMP and members of the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association continued the aerial search on Sept. 2 and found Black's boat with his equipment still inside. A ground search revealed footprints leading from the boat into the nearby forest.

RCMP and other searchers scoured the area, but have been unable to find Black.

Anyone with any information about Black is asked to contact the Behchoko RCMP detachment or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers.
