Pilot's body recovered from downed aircraft near Fort Smith Aircraft left Saskatchewan on Aug. 22; was located the next day in Ivanhoe Lake

The body of a pilot was recovered on Aug. 29 from a plane from Saskatchewan that had crashed almost a week before, east of Fort Smith and just north of the NWT border, according to a news release from 'G' Division of the RCMP.
The Regina RCMP dive team located and removed the pilot's remains
from the submerged aircraft with the assistance of airline company personnel from La Ronge, Sask. The single-engine Otter was operated by Transwest Air, which is headquartered in Prince Albert, Sask.
The body was to be transported to Stony Rapids, Sask., for examination by a coroner. The pilot was the lone occupant of the aircraft.
Cpl. Barry Ledoux, media relations officer with the RCMP's 'G' Division in Yellowknife, said the identity of the deceased pilot has not yet been confirmed.
The aircraft left Scott Lake, Sask., at 7 p.m. on Aug. 22.
It was reported overdue at 1 a.m. on Aug. 23 to the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Trenton, Ont.
The centre deployed a Hercules aircraft from the Winnipeg Air Base.
The overdue plane was located partially submerged in Ivanhoe Lake, approximately 80 km northwest of Stony Rapids.
RCMP officers from Fort Smith and Stony Rapids attended the crash site.
The two detachments, Transport Canada and the Offices of the Chief Coroner in the NWT and Saskatchewan continue their investigations.
