IQALUIT
Two men and two women have been arrested after a Jan. 2 drug bust in the 1400 block of Iqaluit.

Iqaluit RCMP, along with the Major Crimes Section, carried out a search warrant under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and uncovered a large quantity of marijuana, smaller amounts of cocaine and ecstasy and Canadian currency. The money and drugs were seized.

The four arrested at the residence were released from custody on condition and now face charges of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. Their first appearance in court is set for Feb. 25.

RCMP also announced over the holidays it had acted with communities in intercepting alcohol destined for hamlets around Nunavut that prohibit alcohol. In all, RCMP V Division seized 41 60-ounce bottles, eight 40-ounce bottles, three 26-ounce bottles and 10 12-ounce bottles under the Nunavut Liquor Act.
