A man walking southbound on Franklin Avenue in front of Mildred Hall School about 11 p.m. on Friday suffered minor injuries after being hit by a vehicle.

Police, firefighters and emergency responders were at the scene shortly after several centimetres of snow fell on the city.

Several people were seen walking in the tire tracks left by vehicles on Franklin Avenue, as the accumulating snow made it difficult to traverse the sidewalk.

An RCMP officer at the scene said the man's injuries were minor, and ambulance personnel did not need a stretcher to transport the victim to hospital. Yellowknife RCMP had few details on the incident as of press deadline.

"There was a motor vehicle and pedestrian," confirmed Const. Amanda McGillivray yesterday. "I don't know any details and I don't know if a pedestrian was hit or anything else."
