TALOYOAK/SPENCE BAY
A mother and two sons died in a house fire in Taloyoak last Thursday.

Taloyoak RCMP and the fire department responded to a fire within a unit of a four-plex apartment building on Feb. 2 at about 7 p.m. The fire department was able to contain and extinguish the fire, said RCMP.

The occupants of the three other units were evacuated safely but police stated the initial investigation revealed fatalities within the affected unit.

A mother in her early 20s and her two young sons, aged 2 and 4, perished in the blaze.

It seems the other three families have lost their homes as well as there is extensive damage to the rest of the building.

Community residents are mourning the loss of the victims.
