BAFFIN ISLAND
The 2012 bulk sample program for Peregrine Diamonds Ltd.'s Chidliak diamond joint-venture with BHP Billiton will not be affected by the mining giant's current review of its diamonds business.

BHP announced last week that it is considering the sale of its interest in Chidliak and the Ekati Diamond Mine, located about 310 km northeast of Yellowknife, as part of a review of all its diamond holdings.

Peregrine met with a senior executive of BHP, a Nov. 30 news release stated, who assured the exploration company that BHP continues to be committed to next year's Chidliak exploration program, and its share of up to $1.9 million for the mobilization of materials and equipment for the bulk sample.

A 2012 program and budget for the project, located about 120 km from Iqaluit on Baffin Island, is expected to be approved before the end of the year.
