IQALUIT
Police continue to investigate the death of carver Sangani Osuitok, 50, at a house in Iqaluit.

Emergency crews rushed Osuitok to Qikiqtani General Hospital just before midnight Oct. 21, and he was pronounced dead just after 1 a.m. on Oct. 22. Results of an Oct. 24 autopsy were not

yet available by press deadline. Police, considering his death a homicide, had arrested a 21-year-old woman, but she has been released without charge.

An RCMP press release said the incident was "isolated" and there was no cause for other citizens to be concerned for their safety.

Osuitok was the son of Osuitok Ipeelee, one of the carvers who made the first NWT legislative mace.
