NORTHWEST TERRITORIES
An employer-needs assessment is now underway by the Northwest Territories Mine Training Society.

The assessment aims to gather the numbers and types of employees that will be required in the North Slave, South Slave, and Deh Cho Regions over the next five to 10 years.

The training society has hired Northways Consulting to survey and interview employers in the public and private sectors throughout the month.

"Employers talk about human resource shortages," the training society stated in a news release. "Job-seekers talk about job shortages. The best way to bridge the gap is to find out what kind of skills employers are seeking, whether they need welders, mechanics, labourers or engineers."

The project is being conducted in conjunction with the Department of Education, Culture and Employment, the Akaitcho Territorial Government, the Dehcho First Nations, the NWT Metis

Nation and the Tli Cho Government.
